Who we are
These terms are between you and yogispace. You can contact us at helloyogispace@gmail.com.
yogispace is an online marketplace. We provide the website, bookings, payments, messaging and video rooms that let students book live online yoga sessions with independent teachers. The teacher, not yogispace, provides and is responsible for the session itself.
These terms apply to everyone who uses yogispace. By creating an account, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over to use yogispace.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- One person per account. Don't create accounts for other people or share yours.
Bookings
You can book a private session from the times a teacher has made available, or a place in a group class while spaces remain. Teachers set how much notice they need (at least 6 hours). Session times are shown in your own timezone.
Your booking is confirmed when you see the confirmation page and receive a confirmation email. At that point a contract for the session is formed between you and the teacher, and yogispace takes payment on the teacher's behalf.
Prices & payment
- Teachers set their own prices. The price you see before you pay is the total you pay, in pounds sterling (GBP), with no hidden fees.
- Payment is taken when you book, securely through Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- yogispace keeps a 15% platform fee from each payment; the teacher receives 85%.
Cancellations & refunds
If you cancel
You can cancel from your dashboard. Your refund depends on how far ahead you cancel:
- More than 24 hours before the session: full refund
- 6 to 24 hours before: 50% refund
- Less than 6 hours before: no refund
The same rules apply to group classes. If you don't join a session and haven't cancelled, you won't get a refund.
If the teacher cancels, or doesn't turn up
If your teacher cancels, you get a full refund whenever they cancel. If your teacher hasn't joined the room 10 minutes after the start time, you can report a no-show from the session page and you'll get a full refund.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to the card you paid with automatically. They usually appear within 3–5 business days, but it can take longer depending on your bank.
Your cancellation rights under consumer law
Sessions are leisure services booked for a specific date and time, so the 14-day cancellation period that applies to some online purchases doesn't apply. Our cancellation policy above applies instead. This doesn't affect your other legal rights: if a session isn't provided with reasonable care and skill, or isn't as described, contact us and we'll help put it right.
Online sessions
- Sessions happen in a private video room on yogispace. It opens 15 minutes before the start, and only the teacher and the students booked into that session can join.
- You need a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone. You can test them on the session page before joining.
- Sessions are not recorded by yogispace. Don't record a session without everyone's permission.
- If a technical problem on our side stops a session from happening, contact us and we'll offer a refund or help rebook.
Your health
Yoga is physical activity and carries some risk of injury. Practise within your limits, make sure your space is clear and safe, and stop if something hurts. If you're pregnant, injured or have a medical condition, check with a doctor before you practise and tell your teacher when you book.
Teachers give general yoga instruction, not medical advice.
For teachers
Teachers are independent professionals, not employees or agents of yogispace. By teaching on yogispace, you agree to:
- Only list qualifications you actually hold, and keep your profile accurate. We review every profile and certificate before it goes live, and again if you change your certificates.
- Keep your availability up to date, turn up on time, and teach with reasonable care and skill.
- Only cancel when you have to. Students get a full refund whenever you cancel or don't turn up, and repeated cancellations may lead to your profile being suspended.
- Follow the laws that apply to you.
- Keep bookings and payments on yogispace. Don't arrange to take payment directly from students you met here.
Getting paid
- You need a Stripe account, set up through your Manage profile page, before students can book you. Stripe's Connected Account Agreement also applies to you.
- For each completed session you receive 85% of the price, transferred to your Stripe account automatically after the session ends.
- If a student cancels late and receives a 50% or no refund, you receive 85% of the amount the student paid and didn't get back.
- When a student receives a full refund (including when you cancel or don't turn up), no payout is made for that booking.
- You're responsible for your own tax and National Insurance on your earnings.
Conduct
Treat everyone on yogispace with respect. You must not:
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against or behave inappropriately towards anyone
- Send spam, or use messages to promote other services
- Pretend to be someone else, or give false information
- Try to get around our payments, security or booking systems
- Upload anything illegal, harmful or that you don't have the right to share
You can report a conversation from its info panel in Messages. We may remove content, or suspend or close accounts, that break these terms.
Content & reviews
You keep ownership of what you upload, such as photos, bios, certificates and reviews. You give yogispace permission to show it on the site so we can run the service. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except that messages you've sent stay visible to the person you sent them to.
Reviews must be honest and based on a session you actually had. You can only review a teacher after a completed session. We don't publish fake reviews or pay for reviews, and we may remove reviews that break these rules.
The yogispace name, logo and website design belong to us.
Our responsibility to you
We provide yogispace with reasonable care and skill, and we're responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nor does anything here affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, we're not responsible for:
- How a teacher delivers a session they provide independently, beyond our obligations under these terms
- Losses that weren't foreseeable, or that result from things outside our reasonable control, such as internet outages
- Business losses, if you use yogispace as a teacher, beyond the amounts owed to you for completed sessions
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. If you have upcoming sessions, you'll need to cancel them first, so the normal refund rules apply. What happens to your data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why first. If we close your account, any confirmed bookings will be cancelled and refunded as if the teacher had cancelled.
Law & disputes
If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as yogispace changes. If we make significant changes, we'll tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. Bookings you've already made stay under the terms that applied when you booked.
